Welcome to the 4th EU funded Marine Robotics and Applications Workshop (EMRA ’17) We are pleased to invite you to attend the EMRA Workshop that will take place from 15-16 May 2017 in Girona at the Science and Technology Park at the University of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. Following the success of the EMRA´16 that took place in 2016 in UK, we hereby invite researchers and end-users of marine robotics technology to attend EMRA´17. The workshop will summarize current EU FP7 and H2020 projects on marine robotics and provide a platform for marine stakeholders to share and discuss current technological challenges and achievements. The workshop will feature 2 invited plenary sessions given by leading research scientists around the world, the presentation of the latest results of FP7 and H2020 marine robotics related projects and the always motivating sessions of industry focused on the latest innovations and products in the market. …
ViCOROB wants to wish you Happy Holidays and Happy New Year…:) This year we felt like going handcrafted / recycled to make our Christmas Greetings… The result is here, we hope you enjoy it! We will be closed from December the 23th to January the 6th 2017. Des de ViCOROB us volem desitjar Bones Festes i Feliç Any Nou 2017.
Last week, from 17 to 21st of October, took place in Girona the STRONGMAR winter school on “Underwater Vision and Robotics”. In the framework of this twinning action, EC funded, that aims to enhance the scientific and technological capacity of INESC TEC and linked institutions in research, such training activities are a key for success. Our team shared its knowledge on the topics of underwater vision and path planning. Further training is planned in the future, both in Porto and in Girona again. Around 20 students attended the event together with engineers, professors and postdoctoral fellows. More about STRONGMAR More about the Winter School
Laboratory for Underwater Systems and Technologies (LABUST) at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical and Engineering (UNIZG-FER) in Croatia positioned itself in the last years as the regional leader in marine robotics: LABUST has the required technologies, people, infrastructure, and experience in field experiments. What LABUST is missing is research excellence that will allow it to fully exploit and bring available resources to a level compatible with internationally leading institutions in the area of marine robotics. The main goal of EXCELLABUST project is to address networking gaps and deficiencies between UNIZG-FER and internationally leading counterparts at EU level, by significantly strengthening marine robotics research within LABUST through twinning with expert partners. The project last meeting took place in Croatia, in the framework of Breaking The Surface 2016 workshop.
BOREAS is a II WW shipwreck in Costa Brava area. It was submerged on purpose in Palamós with the intention of creating an artificial habitat for marine life. Our team decided to visit the area in order to collect data to test their latest improvements in 3D reconstruction techniques and panoramic imaging. It’s worth to see the results of their work, enjoy!
European Marine Robotics community gathers together every year in the EMRA workshop. This event, created three years ago as a dissemination event of the main EU marine robotics related projects, is an event in projection where the main stakeholders on marine robotics field discuss, present and contrast their opinions on the sector. 2016 edition took place in Newcastle University (UK), a perfect framework for two long days of networking for further projects, events and business! In May 2017, the event will take place in Girona, at the Science and Technology Park of the University of Girona. See you there!
Oceanology International is the world leading marine science and ocean technology exhibition. Every two years, Oceanology International brings together the latest technologies and worldwide leaders from a variety of industries including oil & gas, engineering, marine science and maritime security. Girona Underwater Vision and Robotics team was present in the exhibition to showcase the two AUV prototypes developed by the research group (Girona 500 and Sparus II AUV) as well as the different image and sonar data processing capabilities. The stand of the group received many interested visitors throughout the exhibition days thus enhancing the visibility of the group at a global scale and establishing new networking opportunities and new relationships for potential future businesses.
