BOREAS is a II WW shipwreck in Costa Brava area. It was submerged on purpose in Palamós with the intention of creating an artificial habitat for marine life. Our team decided to visit the area in order to collect data to test their latest improvements in 3D reconstruction techniques and panoramic imaging. It’s worth to see the results of their work, enjoy!
European Marine Robotics community gathers together every year in the EMRA workshop. This event, created three years ago as a dissemination event of the main EU marine robotics related projects, is an event in projection where the main stakeholders on marine robotics field discuss, present and contrast their opinions on the sector. 2016 edition took place in Newcastle University (UK), a perfect framework for two long days of networking for further projects, events and business! In May 2017, the event will take place in Girona, at the Science and Technology Park of the University of Girona. See you there!
Oceanology International is the world leading marine science and ocean technology exhibition. Every two years, Oceanology International brings together the latest technologies and worldwide leaders from a variety of industries including oil & gas, engineering, marine science and maritime security. Girona Underwater Vision and Robotics team was present in the exhibition to showcase the two AUV prototypes developed by the research group (Girona 500 and Sparus II AUV) as well as the different image and sonar data processing capabilities. The stand of the group received many interested visitors throughout the exhibition days thus enhancing the visibility of the group at a global scale and establishing new networking opportunities and new relationships for potential future businesses.
Horizon2020 project STRONGMAR kick-off meeting was held on 7th of March 2016 at the Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores Do Porto, Portugal. Project is coordinated by Prof. Eduardo Silva and STRONGARMAR team and developed in collaboration with: University of Girona ,Computer Vision and Robotics Research Institute HERIOT-WATT University CINTAL – Centro Investigacao Tecnologica Do Algarve University Court of the University of Aberdeen NATO Science and Technology Organisation Project STRONGMAR has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 692427. The main goal is strongly committed to become a center of excellence in maritime technology and, in particular, deep sea technology.
We proud to assist in this project . Would you like to know more about EXCELLABUST: Excelling LABUST in marine robotics? The main goal of EXCELLABUST project is to address networking gaps and deficiencies between UNIZG-FER and internationally leading counterparts at EU level, by significantly strengthening marine robotics research within LABUST through twinning with expert partners. The project is funded by EU Horizon 2020 TWINNING program under GA no 691980. http://www.fer.unizg.hr/zari/labust
We want to wish you Happy Holidays and Happy New Year…:) We will be closed from December the 23th to January the 6th 2016. Us volem desitjar Bones Festes i Feliç Any Nou 2016 i us recordem que, durant aquestes vacances (23 desembre a 6 de gener), restarem tancats.
From 31 August to 11 September 2015, the Center of IMAR of the University of the Azores is hosting the final demonstration of a new type of robotics-based distributed sensor system, aimed at affording marine scientists and commercial operators a revolutionary tool for marine habitat mapping in complex underwater 3D environments. The trials form the ultimate project demonstration of the EC research project MORPH, entitled Marine Robotic System of Self-Organising, Logically Linked Physical Nodes. Launched in February 2012, the 4-year research project MORPH is funded by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme and Industry with a budget of 8,5 million Euros. The major goal of the project is to develop a distributed robotic underwater system carrying complementary sensors for complex underwater mapping missions. At the core of the innovative solution adopted is the concerted operation of a number of relatively simple, affordable vehicles, capable of cooperating seamlessly and behave…
It is time to rest, we are going out of the office for a few days !!! More precisely, from the 1st to the 31st of August.
